Several of Nottingham’s primary schools have established ongoing links with schools in Ningbo
Following the signing of the Sister City agreement between Nottingham and Ningbo in 2005, numerous meetings have been held between Nottingham schools, and Ningbo Education Bureau and Ningbo schools to discuss a forward plan for the educational exchange and cooperation between the two cities.
In December 2006, a representative from Nottingham City Council collected Nottingham schools’ profiles and visited Ningbo, and, with the support from the Ningbo education partners, identified partnership opportunities for the schools.
Teachers from Nottingham schools plan to visit Ningbo once again during October 2007 to further develop successful and productive educational partnerships between the two cities, and:

Universities
Nottingham is home to two world-class Universities:
University of Nottingham campus in Ningbo, China

University of Nottingham campus, Ningbo
The University of Nottingham’s strong links with China resulted in an invitation to become the first foreign university to establish an independent campus, under new legislation passed in China in 2003.
Established in September 2004, the campus is located in Ningbo, and has been developed in partnership with the dynamic and innovative Wanli Education Group.
The £40 million Ningbo campus was completed in 2005 and was officially opened by John Prescott, the UK's Deputy Prime Minister, in February 2006. Like the University’s Malaysia Campus, Ningbo Campus builds on the attributes of University Park in the UK and includes a lake and its own version of Nottingham's famous Trent Building. The campus provides state-of-the-art facilities for 4,000 students, including on-site residential facilities for all students and staff, restaurants and shops and a dedicated sports complex. The new campus is situated on the Ningbo City University Park, which also has excellent facilities, including the beautiful new Municipal Library.
The campus is a full and integral part of The University of Nottingham. All teaching is carried out in English and the degrees awarded are University of Nottingham degrees. A range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses and opportunities are available for students wishing to study in China.
The University is delighted to have been awarded the Queen's Award for Enterprise (International Trade) in 2006 in recognition of its innovation in establishing campuses overseas.
