The following is a list of the business support organisations that are available to support businesses in Nottingham to access the China markets:

East Midlands China Business Bureau

The East Midlands China Business Bureau aims to proactively develop the opportunities arising from the growth of the Chinese economy in its two priority locations in China, Sichuan Province / Chongqing Municipality and Zhejiang Province / Ningbo.

The Bureau was established to help East Midlands businesses overcome the main barriers to trading with China: business culture and language. To do this, the Bureau provides practical assistance and expert advice to East Midlands' SMEs looking to grow their business by working with China.

The Bureau provides the following specific China trade services to business in the East Midlands:

  • Information and market intelligence service on the China market (link to appropriate area of emcbb site)
  • Access to sector specific business opportunities in China (link to emcbb site)
  • Access to specialist language providers (link to emcbb site)

The Bureau is also working proactively to establish links between the East Midlands region and China research and educational institutions.

A sector based focus has been adopted particularly in transport and environmental technologies. In addition, the sector strengths identified in the Regional Economic Strategy-A Flourishing Region shall also be promoted. These include construction, healthcare and food and drink.

UK Trade & Investment is a Central Government agency that supports companies in the East Midlands that want to trade and invest overseas, including in China.

CBBC supports British companies to do business in China by delivering a range of practical services to British companies wishing to export goods and services to, invest in, or establish manufacturing under license arrangements with China.

CBBC is a business led partnership between government and industry with a proven track record of developing British trade in China dating back to the 1950s.
