All My Dear Friends,

A big warm welcome to all of you reading this Blog on the new Nottingham Business Development Ltd (NBDL) website!

My name is Beryl Chen. I am very happy to have my Blog on this website because my other hat is the new Chief Representative of NBDL's Ningbo Office in China.

Before joining NBDL, I worked for over five years in the British Consulate-General Shanghai Trade & Investment Section, an overseas leg of UK Trade & Investment (UKTI). My responsibility was to assist UK companies (especially those in the life science sector) to do business with partners in the prosperous East China region.

That invaluable work experience has helped me obtain my new job, which, I think, will further extend my knowledge and improve my skills to act as a bridge between UK and Chinese companies. Based in Ningbo, the twinned sister-city of Nottingham, I will try my best to be proactive to promote the Nottingham image and business. In the meantime I will explore and bring opportunities from Ningbo and the whole Yangtze Delta River/Shanghai to Nottingham and the East Midlands region.

This fruitful golden autumn sees the successful launch of the NBDL website. How pleased I am to be here to see Nottingham City Council, East Midlands Development Agency, the University of Nottingham and Nottingham's FE colleges launch this new and very exciting venture. To help NBDL to develop successfuly, I would sincerely appreciate and look forward to any suggestions and comments from you. And if there is anything I can do for you (enquiries, advice, even a business chat to share experience), please feel free to contact me at beryl.chen@nottinghambdl.com

I look forward to seeing you next time.

Beryl Chen
